Sylvalyn Hammond, DVM

Sylvalyn is a companion animal general practitioner and emergency veterinarian who is passionate about client education. She strongly believes that a solid foundation in preventative medicine and wellness can prevent most emergency cases. Her interests include nutrition, emergency medicine, and Fear Free training techniques. Her adopted German Shepherd, Hugo, is a retired IED detection canine for the U.S. Army. He served two tours in Afghanistan before being wounded in the field and honorably discharged.

Experience

Dr. Sylvalyn Hammond worked alongside her mother, also a veterinarian, as an unofficial veterinary technician from a young age until she moved to Texas to begin veterinary school. After graduating, she began her career as a full-time general practitioner and soon took on a second role as a relief veterinarian at a local emergency hospital. She is Fear Free™ certified and is currently pursuing a nutritional certification. 

Education

Dr. Sylvalyn Hammond earned her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Sciences from the University of Arizona before pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Science.
